GRIC Adds Thousands of European Wi-Fi Access Locations in Six Countries

Agreements with The Cloud(TM), Monzoon Networks and PicoPoint to Increase Wi-Fi Network by More than 6,000 Access Locations in Europe Over Next 12 Months

MILPITAS, Calif., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GRIC Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: GRIC), a leading provider of secure enterprise remote access solutions, announced today it has signed agreements with three major Wi-Fi service providers, immediately adding more than 2,200 live Wi-Fi access locations in five European countries and South Africa to the GRIC TierOne Network(TM).

The agreements mean that GRIC users be able to use high-speed Wi-Fi connections to increase their productivity by connecting to their corporate networks and working as easily and conveniently as if they were in their own offices.

Collectively, the agreements with The Cloud(TM), Monzoon Networks and PicoPoint add Wi-Fi access locations in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and South Africa -- many in places important to business travelers such as airports, railway stations, hotels and convention centers. All three networks have announced plans to expand over the next 12 months, adding as many as 6,000 additional locations.

These new Wi-Fi access locations will be added to the GRIC TierOne Network(TM) which already has more than 3,000 active Wi-Fi and Ethernet access locations in 20 countries, in addition to more than 35,000 dial-up locations in 150 countries. GRIC has signed agreements with 48 Wi-Fi service providers in 32 countries, and is rapidly bringing additional Wi-Fi access locations on-line around the globe.

Our relationships with The Cloud(TM), Monzoon Networks and PicoPoint adds real value for GRIC MobileOffice enterprise customers, who will be able to connect securely to their corporate networks from key business locations throughout Europe by simply using the GRIC client and a Wi-Fi enabled laptop or other device," said Bharat Dave, President and Chief Executive Officer of GRIC Communications. "Our agreement with these three leading Wi-Fi service providers is a major step in making Wi-Fi access as ubiquitous as dial-up access for mobile workers." The growth of the European Wi-Fi market has lagged behind the U.S. and Asia but companies like The Cloud(TM), Monzoon Networks and PicoPoint have recently given the market fresh impetus. "GRIC is taking a leadership role in moving rapidly to tie together these new networks and delivering a seamless offering to the marketplace," said Kshitij Moghe, Mobile Communications Program Leader for Frost & Sullivan.
